Will an 897VA-M (adsl annex-m) also work on a normal annex-a line ?

will the 887VAM 897VAM adsl annex-m router also sync on a standard annex-a line ?

(qould like to know it before buying...)

i found a command to set the mode in ios but do not know wether the electronic supports that.

I'm not sure, but I think it does Annex 'M' as an extra option, not instead of 'A'.  I think if the 'M' negotiation fails it falls back to 'A'.
