Wrong AS number given in a Traceroute

Hi All !

On my ASR 1001 - X I done a simple Traceroute and got this as a result

HostnameHere#traceroute 46.182.249.38

Type escape sequence to abort.

Tracing the route to 46.182.249.38

VRF info: (vrf in name/id, vrf out name/id)

  1 80.81.194.140 [AS 42525] 22 msec 11 msec 11 msec

  2 85.197.72.110 [AS 25220] 12 msec 13 msec 12 msec

Now on the 1st hop the router says it belongs to AS 42525

But RIPE says something differently.........

  • inetnum:         80.81.192.0 - 80.81.195.255
  • netname:         DE-CIX-FRA-IXP
  • descr:           DE-CIX Frankfurt IPv4 Peering LAN

I would tend to agree with RIPE so whay is my telling ASR telling lies ?

Hello,

not sure where you see the address space and the link to the assigned AS, 42525.

What are you peering with ?

AS42525 GLOBALCONNECT-NETWORK, DK

just look on your bgp router a route for 80.81.194.140

Where does it come from?
