MX to cloud

MX to NGFW
Level 1
Level 1

Currently have a global Meraki infrastructure want to begin to explore NGFW (?). The goal is our reduce the hardware footprint on premise. We're a global firm and want to begin in our US offices.

What are the major factors to consider? Is there a Meraki to NGFW migration path or is it supported?
What's the best approach to optimize cost?

I have a questions - a lot of them. This is the beginning of a long journey and want to get all options on the table to consider - thank you.

- US and London: 2 MX100s each
- Dubai: MX84
- Switzerland: 2 MX 80s
- Puerto Rico: MX67
- Shanghai: MX84

Considering NGFWs for your global Meraki setup to reduce hardware footprint? Here's a quick rundown:

  • Benefits: Potentially stronger security features and less on-site hardware.
  • Considerations: Trade-off between security and Meraki's easy cloud management. Factor in potential licensing costs for NGFW features.

Start small: Pilot NGFWs in US offices (2x MX100s) before a global rollout. Explore cloud-delivered NGFW options for further hardware reduction.

Think "taxi service": Moving from Meraki "taxis" to NGFWs with potentially more features but a different management structure. Test-drive in one location (US) first.
