Save SDWAN LAB

Hi Friends,

I recently build a sdwan Lab on eve-ng and when i shutdown controllers and vedge routers and vmanage wont funciton back as it was configured.

I wanted to know is it possible to save a lab with exact condition and we can spin it up and start were we stopped , so i dont need to do whole bringup process.

If there is any way to save sdwan lab in eve-ng please share.

Hello,

. Save the Device Configurations
Before shutting down the lab, ensure that all configurations on your devices (vManage, vBond, vSmart, and vEdge) are saved.

For Cisco devices: Use the write memory or copy running-config startup-config command.
For non-Cisco devices: Refer to the device documentation for saving configurations.
This ensures that your devices retain their configurations when they are powered off and restarted.

2. Use EVE-NG Snapshots
EVE-NG provides a snapshot feature to save the exact state of a lab. Here's how you can use it:

Create a Snapshot   Official Site
Open the lab in EVE-NG.
Click on the Tools menu (gear icon) at the top.
Select Manage Snapshots.
Click Add to create a new snapshot. Name it appropriately (e.g., "Post Configuration").
EVE-NG will capture the state of all devices in the lab.
Restore a Snapshot
When you want to resume, open the same lab.
Go to Tools > Manage Snapshots.
Select the desired snapshot and click Restore.
Start your devices, and they will boot into the saved state.
3. Export and Backup the Lab
To further ensure your work is preserved:

Export the lab by downloading the .unl file and associated images:
Right-click on the lab and choose Export.
This will include the lab file and all current snapshots.
Store the export in a safe location for future use.
4. Tips for Persistent SD-WAN Labs
Storage Behavior: Ensure that the backing storage for your EVE-NG instance is reliable. If you're running EVE-NG in a virtual environment, confirm that your VM disk settings allow for persistence.
Automatic Startup: If you frequently use the lab, consider setting up an automated script to start the necessary devices in the correct order (vManage > vBond > vSmart > vEdge).

Best Regards

Hi @bella964hadid ,

I am currently using Pnetlab and i don't find any snapshot options in my lab, if you used pnetlab and saved your sdwan controllers config with certificates and all settings and used it for later purpose to spin labs again. Can you please guide.

AFAIK there is no snapshot option unfortunately.

What does your lab look like when you spin up nodes & controllers again? Are your controllers blank? Are the nodes reset to default?
"Commit" writes the configuration to disk, so the configurations should be saved as long as you have applied the config.
