SD-AVC in SD-WAN

Hi,

recently I read that from CVD, in SD-WAN for Application Visibility symmetric traffic is mandatory. And traffic symmetry is not required with SD-AVC since it is a centralized network service and application states are synchronized between network nodes.

https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/solutions/CVD/SDWAN/cisco-sdwan-design-guide.html#SDAVC

And it is written that "SD-AVC can aggregate application data from multiple devices in the network and can synchronize application states between network nodes".

The question is, how to properly enable SD-AVC and let devices synchronize?

I see in Cluster Management, we should enable SD-AVC, does it work for standalone deployment too? And the main question is how to enable - let routers sync application states?

Thanks in advance,

HTH,

Hi

"The question is, how to properly enable SD-AVC and let devices synchronize?"

Enable SD-AVC is farily simple and requires only a few commands  Devices does not Synchronizes,  they are pointed to a Controller which will have all traffic visibility for a Segment.

Yes.

And the main question is how to enable - let routers sync application states?

You are going to need a central point.

Take a close look on this three videos. They will help you as they are not build on SD-WAN environment but in standalone environment:

Hi Miranda,

thank for your information.

So, basically we don't need to do anything on Cisco SDWAN IOS XE router, yes? Or we should add NBAR2 protocol packs?

Do we need additional resources for routers?

Hi

You dont need to add anything and the solution already use NBAR. You just need to enable it.   You need to have Advanced license ir order to be able to work with SD-AVC.

Just as side note, we tried to work with it on our environment and the result was not good. We start to see problems we didn´t see before on the network so that we gave up.

We have solution called LiveNX for this same purpose.

Hi,

thanks for your feedback.

What type of problem did you face? Data plane begun to work abnormally or policy didnt work?

regards,
