Viptela SD-WAN HQoS

Hello experts!

I have a question about QoS configuration in SD-WAN. I have a simple hub-and-spoke topology. ASR1001-X is a HUB and 2xISR as spokes. The transport is MPLS network. Hub has 20Mb connection to MPLS and spokes have 10Mb.

Currently, I can configure shaping and scheduling per TLOC on sdwan devices, as shown in the attached file per-tloc qos.png

But such design has a drawback. If, for example, traffic from ASR to ISR will exceed 10Mb, there would be no congestion on the ASR, which means that traffic will be dropped somewhere in the ISP network. So, quality sensitive traffic, such as voice, will suffer.

What I am looking for is a possibility to configure the shaping and scheduling per tunnel on ASR, as shown in the attached file per-tun qos.png

On IOS-XE it is possible with a feature called "hierarchical QoS" or "nested QoS". The configuration example in the attached file IOS-XE_HQoS_config.txt

Is it possible to configure HQoS on IOS-XE SDWAN? Or something like that?

Hello Oleg,

Per tunnel-QoS is not supported on Cisco SDWAN yet, but it's on roadmap. Please stay tuned for future announcements!

I hope it helps.

Hello @Oleg Bukhalov,

Cisco just released IOS XE 17.2 last week, which supports Per-tunnel QoS on SDWAN routers.

You can more information here:

I hope it helps.
