BIP for the masses?

Can BIP, bisync over IP, be used with other than ATMs and ACI BASE24 running on a Himilaya? If it can, an ancient, unsupported BTAM application can be removed from a 3745 FEP and bisync communication to remote sites can be IP. This is a perfect solution for what I am trying to do but the write ups show BIP to be limited in applicability.

Hi James,

Yes, BIP can be used for other things. The simple description is that: BIP works with 3270 Polled Bisync controllers, WHEN the controller contains a single selectable device. In other words, IF these were SNA PU Type 2 controllers rather than bisync, it would be only PUs that contain a single LU. Please let me know if you would like more information.
