Cisco Nexus 5000 and FEX Fabric Externder 2000 Series Limitations

We are currently in the process to migrate parts of our DC to dual Nexus 5020 with vPC including 12+ 2148 fabric extenders.

The nexus runns n5000-uk9.4.1.3.N2.1a.bin

We like the fabric extenders concept very much.

The central configuration and the redundancy in active-active deployment has advantages over other topologies.

I would like to know if and when Nexus 5000 fabric extenders ( fex ) would be able to support more than 12 FEX devices.

To my understanding, currently it does not .

We have 13 FEX and tried to add the 13th but then we received the message similar to "fex limit reached".

Our ideal configuration would require 16 and later 24 fex but we would not like to add more of the nexus 5020.

Will the fex limit be increased in the near or later future?

May be someone from Cisco might answer here as I don't want to speculate here.

Thanks for clarifications.
