Connect to AS/400 Host

The configuration we have is: AS400 - R1 - DS1 - R2 - Ethernet. There a second remote LAN is connected to R2, again via a DS1. Rather than bridging the networks to transport DLC and NetBios, how can I use DLSw to encapsulate the non-routeable protocols into IP? All serial interfaces are unnumbered at this time. Thanks!

As long as there is an IP address on each router and the other side can get to that IP address, you can use DLSW with TCP encapsulation. Here is a sample configuration:

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/customer/tech/tk331/tk336/technologies_configuration_example09186a0080093ece.shtml

This will work for only netbios and SNA. Is the as400 on serial or LAN?

Thank you - the AS/400 is on the LAN as well. I'll take a look at the documentation now.

Tim,

For some reason, I am unable to access this article when I click on it. Any hints what I might need to do to read it?

Try this link:

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/tech/tk331/tk336/tk163/tech_protocol_home.html

This will get you to the main dlsw technology screen for public users. There are many links off of it, including troubleshooting/debugging tips.
