FEX uplink: does it need to run PFC for FCOE ?

Hello all,

We are running FCOE over a N2K-B22HP-P FEX module.

When i look at priority flow control, i see that the server ports have properly negotiated PFC:

Ethernet148/1/1 Auto On (8) 2421526 29561186
Ethernet148/1/2 Auto On (8) 1899670 19344633
Ethernet148/1/3 Auto On (8) 2271854 44901278

However, the uplink of the FEX has PFC disabled:

FEX: 148 Description: FEX0148 state: Online
Extender Model: N2K-B22HP-P, Part No: 73-13780-05
Bay: 1
Rack Id: Default RUID
Pinning-mode: static Max-links: 1
Fabric port for control traffic: Eth1/3

show int priority-flow-control

Ethernet1/3        Auto Off           85024432   0

is this normal ?

Shouldn't the FEX uplink also be running PFC when any server downstream is using FCOE ?

Do i need to manually force the interface in FCOE mode ?

># sh queuing int eth1/3 detail
Ethernet1/3 queuing information:

<output dropped>

FEX interface info:
FEX Drop Class Buffer Size: 316160

Total FEX interface statistics:
FEX Uplink Interface Rx Drops: 12977

should i be worried this could be FCOE traffic ?

regards,

GN
