Hi,
Need some workaround wrt the Cisco UCS C22 M3 server, it keeps disabling the HDD after the EXSi 5.1 has been installed.
However the UCS server did not come with hard drives, we had to use HDD from the Cisco Performance Manager ( not yet installed ).
- The HDD were installed.
- Did a raid 0 configuration on the server.
- Pointed the boot menu to an Esxi 5.1 on local device
- Installation successful
- But when i tried to load the Esxi, it keeps searching for boot device, still no luck
- On second thought, assumed the Exsi was corrupt.
- So tried to run the Esxi again, but say do i want to overwrite the existing installation.
My customer wants us to deliver, Did anyone have a similar occurence ???

Hello,
What is the boot order ?
What is the RAID controller installed on the server ?
Please share the message thrown by ESXi while it boots up.

Hi,
I see that there has been some time over this, but is/was it using the internal/onboard RAID controller?
If so, it looks like it's not supported with ANY virtualization...
(And Cisco has done an extensive job in hiding this information deep into the Tech Specs and Installation guides of the server, instead of the datasheet! Even though CCW or Config. Tool warns you against lots of things, like services, selecting a power-supply (even though there's one) or using the power-calculator, I guess this was considered to be a "simple" thing that didn't deserve a notification.)
Now we'll have to wait weeks more, just to get an external RAID card.
