Hi,

I need some help for migrating VMs from Blade M2 cluster to M4 Cluster, when i tried the migration it shows me an error and i can not do it the migration but if I enable EVC with Sandy Brigde, the Migration Works, but i do not want to enable EVC because i dont wanna loss performance on M4 Blades.

I need to know, procedure to migrate the VMs properly without loss performance on M4 Blades.

Hi Fidel

^You have no other choice, if you want to do a live migration (vmotion).

Don't know, if offline migration is a possible solution ?

Walter.

PS.

https://blogs.vmware.com/vsphere/2014/06/enhanced-vmotion-compatibility-evc-affect-performance.html

Let’s reference an old, but still very relevant, study by the VMware Performance Engineering team:

Impact of Enhanced vMotion Compatibility on Performance

For most enterprise applications you can see there is no, or an almost immeasurable, performance impact when using EVC. But, there are certain corner cases, like encryption, that are crippled when instructions sets like AES-NI set are not available (Example: Oracle Transparent Data Encryption, OpenSSL).

Impact of Enhanced vMotion Compatibility on Application Performance

Hi Walter,

Thanks you for the information.

If offiline migration is a posible solution, i can take that way to do  the migration.

I have a doubt about upgrade virtual hardware option, i would like to know if this option could help to adapt the VM to the M4 blade without use EVC.
