Network Pauses

Hello everyone,

I've been fighting an issue for a while now and I'm really not making any progress. The issue is simple, but tracking down the cause has been elusive!

Facts:

  • MS 2012R2 Hyper-V cluster (scvmm 2012R2)
  • 4X B200M4
  • 1340 VIC
  • VMQ = Enabled on vNics that constitute the vSwitch in HV host
  • RSS = Enabled on SMB Nics, management and Live Migration
  • infrastructure firmware 2.2(5b)
  • Blade firmware 22(5b)
  • ENic version 3.4.0.12
  • FI's 6248
  • FI switching mode - End Host

Issue: When I boot a VM, there is a pause on my network. In many cases, clients connected to XenApp server will notice a warning in outlook. In other cases, user are reporting a 3 to 5 second "freeze" in their XenApp session.

If I look at the event logs on the exchange CAS and DAG servers,  I can see that access to the network was lost. I also did various PING tests while booting VM and I get the following: https://www.evernote.com/l/ADlulLi0eBVBpKXILKPxCNsWqXf91qdq4UQ

Any assistance from the community would be greatly appreciated.

Best regards

I have a vague recollection of reading about someone else with the same issue on this forum and if turned out to be a firmware issue on the B200M4.  My memory is very grey now.

Are there any firmware updates available for the B200M4?

Hello Philip

Yes there are some updates, but we have been observing this issue for a while and we have been through 4 firmware updates since June...

I wish it was that easy.

Hello everyone

It looks like I found the cause of the issues. Basically, the issue is caused by the Load Balancing algorithm which is set to Dynamic

I will be changing the mode to Hyper-V port.

Thanks
