I've run across an issue with a new 5672UP switch and GLC-T modules that I was hoping someone had an answer for. When I insert the GLC-T modules into the 5672UP and plug in another device (via CAT 6 Ethernet), the other device (an ASA in this example) gives me a link light and show 'UP/UP' but the interface on the 5672UP shows "Link not connected". I've tried another port within the first 32 ports with the same result. When I insert the GLC-T module into one of the UP's (ports 33-48), it works just fine. I can't think of any other reason for this behavior other than a bug. I'm running the latest version, 7.3(1)N1(1). I'd open a Cisco TAC case but I'm waiting on the devices to get covered under a contract which will likely take a week or so. In the meantime I figured I'd try this forum.

I was able to get a TAC case opened and they did confirm that I'm hitting CSCvb42221. Bad news is that the next known fixed version is 7.3(2)N1(1), which will be released at the second quarter of 2017.

Here's another update to this in case you are interested.... As it turns out there is a bug with the GLC-T GBIC themselves. I discovered this, no thanks to TAC, while at a different client trying install a GLC-T into an older 5548UP running 5.2. The behavior was the exact same. Of the 40+ GLC-T's that we had, all had a P/N of 30-1410-03 except for one which was 30-1410-04. The '04' GLC-T worked as expected but the rest didn't. I had my distributor replace all of the '03' GLC-T's with '04' version and those all worked. I suspect it was determined that it's cheaper to push a software code fix than replace thousands of GLC-T.
