PVLANs 1000v to 5596 via FLEX 10

Hi

I know the HP Flex 10 itself doesnt support PVLANs but can you run a trunk from an ESXi 5 server running Nexus 1000v through a FLEX 10 to a 5596 and use PVLANs on the 1000v and 5596 ? There will be some physical servers that need to use the same PVLANs as the virtualised servers running on the HP Blade servers. The physical servers will be connected to the 5596 via 2248 FEX modules.

Hello Pat,

Since the HP FLEX does not support pvlans the HP blades will be consider promiscuous ports having access to all VMs and hosts on N5k.  The best solution is to use a different vlan/subnet for the HP blades.

I developed a vlan-hopping solution a while back but hesitate using it since troubleshooting may be confusing for someone not familiar with the design.
