Hi,

We are connecting Cisco SFP-10g-SR, P/N: 10-2415-02 on port e4/3 of Nexus7010  (module N7K-M132XP-12), but getting following status(xcvrUnsup):

Eth4/3           ***** HQ-North- xcvrUnsup trunk     auto    auto    10Gbase-SR

Also,

SW1# sh int e4/3 transceiver
Ethernet4/3
transceiver is present
type is 10Gbase-SR
name is CISCO-FINISAR
part number is FTLX8571D3BCL-C2
revision is B
serial number is FNS17021KYK
nominal bitrate is 10300 MBit/sec
Link length supported for 50/125um OM3 fiber is 300 m
cisco id is --
cisco extended id number is 4
cisco part number is 10-2415-02
cisco product id is SFP-10G-SR
cisco vendor id is V02

This is the only problem with 10G SFP module of veriosn 02, however version 03 is working fine.

Please advise how to work with version 02 SFP modules.

Thanks,

Gosi

Where did you purchase this SFP from? I would open a TAC case to check the validity of this SFP. You can make it work by using "service unsupported-transceiver" config which is designed for allowing third party SFP to be recognized on the box.

Raj,

I am not sure if the "service unsupported-transceiver" is available on the 7ks. I know it its not on the 6ks.

Sometimes if you purchase SFPs that are not from approved Cisco partners they don't with Cisco devices. I agree with Raj that you should open a ticket with TAC and have them validate the SFPs.

The command is available on the Nexus 7k and the Nexus 6ks as well. If there was a specific older version where it didn't work then that could be the case but I have used it on both these platforms.

Maybe a hidden command?

xxxx-A(config)# service ?
  vlan-group  Vlan group

xxxx-A# se?
send   Send message to open sessions
  set    Set values
setup  Run the basic SETUP command facility

System version: 7.2(0)N1(1)

Yes. Forgot to mention it is a hidden command and cannot be parsed out.
