Hi,
Any one knows, how to configure LOCAL SPAN and REMOTE SPAN in Nexus 5K Switches.
1. Source is FEX ports
2. Destination is Nexus 5k Interface (I hope we can not configure FEX Port is Destination)
N5K: Cisco Nexus 5596 Chassis
N2K: N2K-C2248TP-E-1GE

Hi,
SPAN destinations refer to the interfaces that monitors source ports. The Cisco Nexus 5000 Series switch supports Ethernet and Fibre Channel interfaces as SPAN destinations.

I am not I am following here; did you manage to configure what was needed?

he Nexus can't do RSPAN. It can't disable MAC address learning per VLAN which is needed for RSPAN. It can only disable MAC address learning per port but that would affect all traffic.
Depending on the traffic you are sniffing is for one MAC only or lots of MACs I guess you could define static MAC address entries in the CAM table to send the traffic in the right direction.
It would help if you can provide some more information about your topology. Is there no way of bypassing the Nexuses?

You're right, the only way to support RSPAN with cisco nexus 5K as a transit switch, is with static mac address entries of the mirrored MAC address towards the NMS. I supouse this is a better solution because you limit the broadcast in the network (if the rspan vlan is included in other interfaces, not only the one that connect the NMS) compared with the classic "Switch(config-vlan)# remote-span" command.
