Transfer the HD from C260 to C220

Hi All UC Server Experts,

I installed and finished the configurations the ESXi with some Cisco Appliances into the UCS C260 Server with 2 x 500GB Hard Disk RAID 1, but now I want to transfer the 2 x 500GBwith data to a new UCS C220 server.

Actually, I don't have the 2 extra HD to do that.

Can I just plug and paste the HD to the new C220 Server?

How can I confirm the RAID and data is safe?

Hello,

First make sure the HDD models are compatible between C260 and C220 server from the datasheet.

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/ps10493/products_data_sheets_list.html

Then, what is the RAID controller model installed on C260  and C220 server ?

If the controllers are compatible, then after the hard disk swap, you can import the RAID configuration during the first boot sequence.

The HDs should be compatible.

The C260 RAID Controller is: LSI MegaRAID SAS 9261-8i

The C220 RAID Controller is: LSI MegaRAID SAS 9266-8i

I will transfer the HD from C260 to C220 today.

According to the "Restoring RAID Configuration After Replacing a RAID Controller", how can I import the RAID configuration during the first boot sequence? That mean I have to export the RAID configuration from the C260 and import that to the new C220 server?

Thanks!

It was successful for me to swap the HD already.
