upgrading esxi 5.5 with nexus 100v to 6.0

I need to upgrade my esxi hosts from 5.5 to 6.0 but they have the nexus 1000v vem installed

i6.0-6.0_update02.zip
[DependencyError]
VIB Cisco_bootbank_cisco-vem-v198-esx_5.2.1.3.1.5a.0-3.2.1 requires esx-base = 5.5.0, but the requirement cannot be satisfied within the ImageProfile.

do I need to remove the vem before upgrading? and reinstall afterwards?
