VSM - Layer 2 & 3 Modes

Hi.

We have a nexus 1010, which has 2 VSM's already configured on layer 2 mode with VEM's... we wanted to add another VSM on layer 3 mode on the same 1010. Is it possible to have the 1010 run both layer 2 and layer 3 simultaneously without any problem?

Regards

Raj

Hello Raj,

It is very much supported to run both L2 & L3 VSMs on the same pair of N1010s.  Please keep in mind the primary/secondary VSMs establish HA using L2 communication so the N1010 needs to be on the same VLANs.  Also remember to use a different svs domain-id for each VSM pair.

Thanks for the confirmation matthew.

As of today, we have a single SVS domain for 2xVSM's for layer 2... Ill try with a new SVS domain for the layer 3 connection... Thanks again.
