what would happen if the peer VPC goes down

Hello All,

I'm interested to know the functionality of VPC if the peer VPC port-channel is down. For instance we have a VPC x and for some reason if VPC x goes down on a primary switch what would happen to the VPC X on secondary switch?

As far I know if we have enabled the VPC auto-recovery feature, if the VPC peer-switch goes down then immediately the secondary will take the role as primary and brings up all the VPCs but not sure is there any feature for VPCs.

Please help me to understand what would happen if the peer VPC goes down.

Regards,

Thiyagu

As long as one switch is up, there is no problem to your VPC port-channels.

Only the single homed (not vpc) ports will get affected as they dont have dual connecitons.

Hope this helps,
