RV042 Firmware upgrade fail, how to recover ability to access?

I attempted a firmware upgrade on my RV042.  After an hour, the upgrade was still in progress.  I now cannot login into the router using my user name and password (nor the old admin/admin).  The router is functioning, but I fear it will eventually fail.  How can I recover ability to log in?  The Firmward Recovery program doesn't seem to be appropriate for this situation.  Any suggestions?  Advance warning, I am not an expert.

Hello Tom,

When you say the router is still functioning what do you mean?

It sounds like you are still able to get to the administration website, you just can't login to it.

I looked over the readme for the recovery program, and it seems to only apply to an issue where the router is stuck in boot loader mode, which is indicated by the Diag light blinking once every 5 seconds or so.

Have you tried just factory resetting the unit?  That should set the username and password back to admin/admin.  You can also try cisco/cisco, but I don't think the newer firmware changes the default.

So if your Diag light is blinking, the recovery tool is what you want to try, otherwise just try a factory reset.

I want to update the firmware RV042 v1.2 from RV042_v1.3.13.02-tm_20110128-code.rmt up RV0XX-v4.2.1.02-20120118-code.bin? Thank you!

If the Diag LED is blinking slowly, it means the router's firmware needs to be re-flashed.
