Access Microsoft Access Database on NSS300 Series Network System Storage

Objectives

This document explains how to access the Microsoft Access Database on NSS300 Network System Storage devices. When the PC is not connected to a domain or Active Directory, the access to MS Access Database fails when located on a non-Microsoft Operating System.

How to Access the Microsoft Access Database

Step 1. Open Internet Explorer and make sure the running version is Internet Explorer 7 or above. Choose Tools > About Internet Explorer to see the current version of Internet Explorer.

Step 2. In the navigation panel, choose Tools > Internet Options. The Internet Options window opens:

Step 3. Click Local Intranet and click Sites. The Local Intranet window opens:

Step 4. Uncheck Automatically Detect Intranet Network and make sure the other three options are checked.

Step 5. Click Ok to save the changes.

Step 6. In the navigation panel, choose Tools > Internet Options. The Internet Options window opens:

Step 7. In the Internet Options window go to Security, click Trusted Sites and click Sites. The Trusted Sites window opens:

 

Step 8. Enter the IP address of the NSS300 in the Add this website to the zone field.

Step 9. Click Add to add the IP Address.

Step 10. Check Require Server Verification (https://) for all Sites in this Zone to add https:// in front of the IP Address.

Step 11. Click Close to close the window.

Step 12. Additionally, turn off the Oplocks for the share where the database is located on the NSS300 itself. Use the web configuration utility and choose Network Shares > Shares Folders. The Shares Folder page opens.

 

Step 13. While creating New Share Folder, turn off the Oplocks for the share. This should solve the issue with the inaccessible MS Access Database.
