Objectives
This article explains how to gain access to the surveillance cameras over the IPSec VPN to monitor or change the settings of the camera through the Video Monitoring Software.

Accessing VMS over the IPsec VPN
The above diagram is the scenario.
Note: If you use an old device like the WVC200, use the old Linksys Internet camera monitoring utility software since new video monitoring system does not support legacy devices. Make sure that there is no previous version on the PC and the version in use is correct. Disable the firewall and any antivirus software on the machine.
Step 1. Configure both router interfaces on different subnets.
Note: If the routers are on same subnet, this prevents IPsec tunnel. In this scenario we consider two WAN interfaces: one for VPN and one for WAN(Internet). Usually one WAN is enough to configure VPN and Internet.
Step 2. Verify that the camera obtained its IP address from DHCP which is visible on the LCD screen of the camera and also if you choose DHCP > Setup in the web configuration utility of the router.
Step 3. Use the web configuration utility to choose VPN > Gateway to Gateway. Configure the VPN gateway to gateway tunnel between the two routers. To configure a gateway to gateway tunnel refer to Configuration of Gateway-to-Gateway VPN - NetBIOS broadcast packets on RV0XX Series Routers.
Step 4. Use the web configuration utility to choose VPN > Summary. Verify the VPN Gateway to Gateway configuration.
Note: In our scenario we use two RV042 routers and default parameters.
Step 5. Verify the camera settings on the local site with web configuration utility of the camera.
Step 6. Use the web configuration utility to choose System Summary. Configure the second router with Internet connectivity and make sure that the the local subnet is different from the first router.
Step 7. Use the web configuration utility to choose DHCP > Setup. Verify the IP address of the PC with the video monitoring software and for the second camera, in our case the WVC210.
Step 8. Use the web configuration utility of the camera to verify the network settings to configure it with the DHCP assigned IP.
Step 9. Configure the VPN tunnel to configure the two VPN routers with default configurations.
Step 10. Verify the connectivity with a ping test from the PC to both local cameras and the remote camera.
