Objective
To effectively manage AP541N Access Points, it is important that a device is assigned a proper name and a secure password. It helps to identify a particular device from other devices. To enhance security, it is always advisable to change the default username and password. This is because information can easily be attained by outsiders. This information can be viewed by administrative users that access the configurations of the device. This article explains how to configure crucial administrator information on AP541N Access Points.

Administrator
Step 1. Log in to the Access Point Configuration Utility and choose Administration > Administrator. The Administrator page opens:
Step 2. Enter the desired name of the administrator in the Administrator Name field. Up to 64 alphanumeric and symbol characters can be used.
Step 3. Enter the e-mail address or phone number of the administrator in the Administrator Contact field. This is so that the administrator can be contacted for any issues related to the AP. Up to 255 alphanumeric and symbols characters can be used. Double quotes cannot be used.
Step 4. Enter the physical location of the access point you want to display in the Access Point Location field. Up to 255 alphanumeric and symbols characters can be used. Note: Double quotes cannot be used.
Step 5. Enter the existing password of the device in the Current Password field.
Step 6. Enter the new password for the AP in the New Password field. The administrator password must be an alphanumeric string of up to 8 characters. Do not use special characters or spaces.
Step 7. Re-enter the new password in the Confirm New Password field.
Step 8: Click Apply to save the new settings. The page refreshes.
