Objectives
The purpose of this article is to configure 7915 Expansion Module or side car on UC500 series device with Cisco Configuration Assistant (CCA). The side car and expansion model adds additional buttons and an LCD display to any Cisco Unified IP Phone. Additional buttons become essential to monitor, manage, and respond to the status of the calls.
This document explains the process of configuring side car or expansion models. It states the hardware and compatibility requirements to configure side car or expansion modules.
Applicable Devices
• UC500 Series Device
• 7965 IP Phone
• 7915 Expansion Module
Hardware Requirements for 7915 Expansion Module
Make sure the following things are present:
1. Cisco Unified IP Phone 7962G, 7965G, and 7975G
2. Cisco Unified IP Phone Expansion Module 7915. Model number is CP-7915=
3. Footstand is required for the expansion model or side car to rest. Model number is CP-SINGLFOOTSTAND= for single expansion module and CP-DOUBLFOOTSTAND= for double expansion module.
4. External power cable to supply local power to the expansion module. The model number for power cube is CP-PWR-CUBE-3= and model number for power cord is CP-PWR-CORD-xx=

Configure 7915 Expansion Module on CCA
Step 1. Log in to the Cisco Configuration Assistant (CCA) and choose Configure > Telephony > Users/Extension > Users and Phones to add the expansion module to the 7965 IP Phone.
Step 2. On the User and Phones page click on the configured 7965 IP Phone.
Step 3. Click Edit to add the expansion module or side car.
Step 4. On the Edit Phone page under Expansion Module section, choose an appropriate expansion module or side car that is to be added to the 7965 IP Phone. Choose 7915 (12 Keys) if that expansion module is to be added.
