Objective
The SPA9X2 series phones feature configurable ringtone settings which my be used to customize functionality for a specific user's needs.
The objective of this document is to explain the configuration of ringtones on SPA9X2 Series IP phones.

Configuration of Ringtone Parameters in Basic Mode
Step 1. Log in to the web configuration utility and choose Admin > Login > Basic > Phone. The Phone page opens. Scroll down to the Ring Tone Parameters area on the same page.
There are ten ringtones which appear by default in the RingX fields, where "X" is the ringtone number. The characteristics of each ringtone are configured with the help of the Ring Tone script. In a Ring Tone script, a name can be assigned for a ring tone and many other specifications can be done.
• Name (n) — Ring Tone Name, this can be Classic, Simple or Office.
• Waveform (w) — This is the index of the desired waveform which is to be used in Ring Tone Specification. They can be 1,2,3 or 4. This field can also be a URL to download a ringtone.
• 1 – A classic phone with mechanical bell.
• 2 – Typical phone ring.
• 3 – A classic ring tone.
• 4 – A wide-band frequency sweep signal.
• Cadence (c) — This is the desired cadence which is to play the given waveform. The can be 1,2,3,4 or 5. Cadence ID can be c=0 if w= 3, 4, or a URL. If c=0, this indicates that the on-time is the natural length of the ring tone file.
Description of User Downloaded Ringtones
The TFTP from http://phone_ip_addr/ringtone1?[url], where the URL syntax is tftp://host[:port]/path is used to download the ring tones. The default host is TFTP host. Port is optional. The default port is 69. The link is case sensitive.
There are slots assigned for User Ringtones on the SPA phones. The user downloaded ringtones are named as User1 and User2 in the choices for the default ring. The downloaded ringtone name appears in the User1 and User2 choices on the phone ringtone menu. When the User ringtone slots are not used "Not Installed" appears.
In case of the User1 and User2 ringtones, the cadence is fixed and the on-time is equal to the total duration of the ringtone file and off-time is fixed to 4 seconds. The total duration of the cadence is fixed to 60 seconds. The user ringtone names which are displayed on the phone LCD are got from the ring tone file header file. It is not necessary to reboot the phone after a ringtone is downloaded.
In order to remove the User1 ringtone from the phone, the user can set the path to delete by using this URL, http://phone_ip_addr/ringtone1?/delete. The downloaded file can be used as a ringtone after a .wav file less then 8 seconds in length is obtained and can be converted by the use of Upload Ringtone Utility which is available at the following website, http://www.linksys.com/support.
Step 2. Click Submit All Changes the changes are configured.
