Configure RTP and RTSP on PVC300 PTZ Internet Camera

Objectives

Real-Time Protocol (RTP), is an Internet protocol for transmitting real-time data such as audio and video. RTP itself does not guarantee real-time delivery of data, but it does provide mechanisms for the sending and receiving applications to support steaming data.

The objective of this document is to show you how to configure the RTP and RTSP (Real Time Streaming Protocol) on the PVC300 PTZ Internet Camera.

Applicable Devices

  • PVC300

Configure RTP/RTSP

Step 1. In the web configuration utility, choose Setup > Setup > Advanced Setup. The Advanced Setup page opens:

Step 2. Choose an option from the Authentication drop-down list.

  • Disabled — The Disabled option allows an RTP/RTSP session without a username or password.
  • Basic — The Basic option allows the username and password to be sent over the network (in clear text).
  • Digest —The Digest option is an agreed upon method a web page can use to negotiate credentials with a web user using HTTP. The Digest authentication method is an application of MD5 cryptography.

Step 3. Enter the name for stream 1 in the Access Name for Stream 1 field. The default is live.sdp.

Step 4. Enter the name for stream 2 in the Access Name for Stream 2 field. The default is live2.sdp.

Step 5. In the RTSP port field, enter the desired port number. The default is 554.

Step 6. In the RTP port for Video field, enter the desired port number. The default is 5556.

Step 7. In the RTCP port for Video field, enter the desired port number. The default is 5557.

Step 8. In the RTP port for Audio field, enter the desired port number. It must be an even number. The default is 5558.

Step 9. In the RTCP port for Audio field, enter the desired port number. It must be the port number of audio RTP plus 1. The default is 5559.

Note. You can reassign the five ports any value between 1024 and 65535. The RTP port must be an even number and the RTCP port is the RTP port number plus one, and thus will always be odd. When the RTP port changes, the RTCP port will change accordingly. If the RTP ports are incorrectly assigned, a warning message is displayed.

Step 10. Check the Always Multicast check box to enable multicast for the audio and video IP addresses for Stream 1. Multicast sends packets to multiple destinations in one transmission.

Step 11. In the Multicast Group Address field, enter the multicast address. The default is 239.128.1.99.

Step 12. In the Multicast Video Port field, enter the desired port number. The default is 5560.

Step 13. In the Multicast RTCP Video Port field, enter the desired port number. The default is 5561.

Step 14. In the Multicast Audio Port field, enter the desired port number. The default is 5562.

Step 15. In the Multicast RTCP Audio Port field, enter the desired port number. The default is 5563.

Step 16. In the Multicast TTL [1~255] field, enter the desired value. The multicast TTL (Time To Live) is the value that tells the router the range a packet can be forwarded. The default is 15.

Step 17. Check the Always Multicast check box  to enable the multicast for the audio and video IP addresses for Stream 2.

Step 18. In the Multicast Group Address field, enter the multicast address. The default is 239.128.1.100.

Step 19. In the Multicast Video Port field, enter the desired multicast address. The default is 5564.

Step 20. In the Multicast RTCP Video Port field, enter the desired port number. The default is 5565.

Step 21. In the Multicast Audio Port field, enter the desired port number. The default is 5566.

Step 22. In the Multicast RTCP Audio Port field, enter the desired port number. The default is 5567.

Step 23. In the Multicast TTL [1~255] field, enter the desired value. The multicast TTL (Time To Live) is the value that tells the router the range a packet can be forwarded. The default is 15.

Step 24. Click Save to save the changes made.
