DDNS Service Settings Configuration on WRVS4400N Wireless-N Gigabit Security Router

Objective

Dynamic Domain Name System (DDNS) is an addition to the DNS standard. Dynamic DNS updates a DNS server with new or changed records for IP addresses without the need for human intervention. This allows a fully qualified domain name that never changes to be associated with a dynamically assigned IP address that can change quite often.

This document explains how to configure DDNS service settings on the WRVS4400N with the use of the web configuration utility.

DDNS Service Configuration

DynDNS.com DDNS Service Setup

Step 1. Log in to the web configuration utility and choose Setup > WAN. The WAN page opens:

Step 2. Choose a DDNS service from the DDNS Service drop-down list. Configure DynDNS.org settings with the choices below:

• User Name — Enter the user name of the account set up with DynDNS.org.

• Password — Enter the password of the account set up with DynDNS.org.

• Host Name — Enter the hostname of the account set up with DynDNS.org.

• Status — Displays the status of the DDNS service connection.

• Connect — To manually update your IP address information on the DDNS server when DDNS is enabled, use this button. The Status area on this window also updates.

Step 3. Click Save.

TZO.com DDNS Service Setup

Step 1. Log into the web configuration utility, choose Setup > WAN. The WAN page opens:

Step 2.  To use DDNS service, sign up for one at TZO.com.

 Step 3. Choose TZO.com from the DDNS drop-down menu. Configure TZO.com settings with these options:

• E-mail Address — Enter the email address of the account set up with TZO.com.

• TZO Password — Enter the TZO password of the account set up with TZO.com.

• Domain Name — Enter the domain name of the account set up with TZO.com.

• Status — Displays the status of the TZO service connection.

• Connect — To manually update your IP address information on the DDNS server when DDNS is enabled, use this button. The Status area on this window also updates.

Step 4. Click Save.
