Install and Remove PKG Files on NSS300 Series Smart Storage Devices

Objective

When a PKG (package) file is installed on the device, it can add a multitude of functionalities to the storage device. This article describes how to remove or add PKG files to the NSS device. It also explains where to locate and how to download appropriate pkg file for the device.

Applicable Devices

  • NSS322
  • NSS324
  • NSS326

Software Version

  • v1.5.0

Download PKG Files

Step 1. Use the following links to locate the Cisco Software page appropriate to the device. The links for each device are provided below.

Note: For the NSS326 device, use this link: NSS326. For the NSS324 device, use this link: NSS324. For the NSS322 device, use this link: NSS322.

Step 2. Choose the desired PKG file from the left side of the screen under All Releases.

Step 3. Click Download to start the download.

Install Downloaded PKG Files on an NSS300 Series Smart Storage Device

Before a PKG file can be installed on the NSS device, full web access must be given to the user who is installing the PKG file. To check that the correct settings are setup, follow the steps under Full Web Access on Device.

Step 1. Log in to the web configuration utility and choose Application Servers > PKG Plugins > Installation. The PKG Plugins Installation page opens:

Step 2. Click Choose File.

Step 3. Navigate to the PKG file that needs to be installed.

Step 4. Click Install.

Step 5. When prompted, click OK to verify that a file is to be installed. The PKG file is installed on the NSS device.

View or Remove PKG Files on an NSS300 Series Smart Storage Device

Step 1. Log in to the web configuration utility and choose Application Servers > PKG Plugins > PKG Installed. The PKG Plugins PKG Installed page opens:

Step 2. Click on the desired PKG file that is to be viewed or removed. This opens a new window that displays the information of the PKG file.

Step 3. (Optional) Click Remove to remove the PKG file. If not clicked, click Close to close the window.

Step 4. When prompted, click OK to verify that the file is to be removed. The PKG file is removed from the NSS device.

Full Web Access on Device

Step 1. Log in to the web configuration utility and choose Network Shares > Share Folders > Share Folders (tab). The Share Folders page opens:

Step 2. Click the Property icon. The Share Folder Property window opens:

Step 3. Check the Enable write-only access on FTP connection check box to enable the option. This allows all users to have more web access.

Step 4. Click Apply to save changes made to the properties. This closes the window and takes the user back to the Share Folders page.

Step 5. Click the WebDav Access Control icon. The WebDav Access Control window opens:

Step 6. In the Access Right drop-down list, choose Full access. This lets selected users have full web access.

Step 7. Check the Grant check box to grant the corresponding user full web access.

Step 8. Click Apply to save the changes made to the WebDav Access Control window.
