Manage and Access the Web File Manager on NSS300 Series Smart Storage

Objectives

The Web File Manager allows for easy upload, download, and removal of files on the Web File Manager.  This article outlines the procedure access the NSS300 Series Smart Storage device as well as manage folders and files through the Web File Manager.

Different Ways to Access the Web File Manager

To log directly in to the Web File Manager, choose Web File Manager from the Application drop-down list. This will enter an automatic username and password to allow you to open the Web File Manager. Click Login and the Web File Manager will open. In the log in fields, enter the regular log in information.

To access the Web File Manager once logged into the administration side, the user needs to click on the Application to access the drop-down list. Choose Web File Manager. This opens the manager without any extra log in information required.

Manage the Web File Manager

Step 1. Access and log in to the Web File Manager.

Upload a File in the Web File Manager

Step 1. Navigate to the folder where the file is to be uploaded.

Step 2. Click the Upload icon. The Upload window opens:

Step 3. Click the desired radial button for the Mode.

  • Skip — The file will not be moved if another file exists with the same file name.
  • Overwrite — If there is a file with the same file name, in the same folder, that file will be over written.

Step 4. Click Browse then chose the file to upload. This opens a window that allows the user to choose a file from the computer.

Step 5. Once the desired file has been chosen, click Upload to initiate the transfer.

Download a File Using the Web File Manager

Step 1. Navigate to the folder that the file will be downloaded from.

Step 2. Click the Download icon. The file is automatically downloaded and saved to the download folder on the computer.

Remove a File or Folder in the Web File Manager

Step 1. Navigate to the folder that the holds the folder or file that is to be deleted.

Step 2. Click the Delete icon. That will open up a window asking the user to verify that the file is to be deleted.

Step 3. Click Yes. The file is removed from the device.

Add a Folder in the Web File Manager

Step 1. Navigate to the folder where the new folder will be added.

Step 2. Click the Create Folder icon. This opens the Create Folder window.

Step 3. Enter the name of the new folder in to the Folder Name field.

Step 4. Click OK to save the new folder.

Rename a File or Folder in the Web File Manager

Step 1. Navigate to the folder that the folder or file that needs to be renamed is located.

Step 2. Choose the file or folder that needs to be renamed.

Step 3. Click the Rename icon. This opens the Rename window.

Step 4. In the Name field, enter the new name for the folder or file.

Step 5. Click OK to save the changes to the name.

Copy a File or Folder in the Web File Manager

Step 1. Navigate to the folder that the folder or file that needs to be copied to another location on the device.

Step 2. Choose the file or folder that needs to be copied.

Step 3. Click the Copy icon. This opens the Copy to window.

Step 4. Choose the desired folder where the copied file or folder is to be added.

Step 5. Click the desired radial button for the Mode.

  • Skip — The folder or file will not be moved if another file exists with the same file name.
  • Overwrite — If there is another folder or file with the same name, in the same folder, that file or folder will be over written.

Step 6. Click OK.

Move a File or Folder in the Web File Manager

Step 1. Navigate to the folder that the folder or file that needs to be moved to another location on the device.

Step 2. Choose the file or folder that needs to be moved.

Step 3. Click the Move icon. This opens the Move to window.

Step 4. Choose the desired folder where the file or folder is to be moved.

Step 5. Click the desired radial button for the Mode.

  • Skip — The folder or file will not be moved if another file exists with the same file name.
  • Overwrite — If there is another folder or file with the same name, in the same folder, that file or folder will be over written.

Step 6. Click OK.
