Monitor Outgoing Mail Server through Cisco OnPlus Portal

Objective

The outgoing mail server is one of the mail servers which is responsible to send electronic messages to the appropriate recipient. You need to monitor the outgoing mail server through Cisco OnPlus Portal to ensure the connection between your device and the mail server works properly. Also you can view the latency required to generate critical and warning events and the port number through which you monitor the outgoing mail server.

This article explains how to monitor the outgoing mail server through Cisco OnPlus Portal.

Monitor Incoming Mail Server

Step 1. Log in to the OnPlus Portal, click the desired user, and choose Dashboard.

Step 2. Move your mouse over the desired device and click Device Information. A window appears:

 

Step 3. Click the Monitors tab. The Monitor page opens:

 

Note: If you have already added outgoing mail server and you just want to view or configure the latency and port number, you can click the outgoing mail server and skip to Step 6.

Step 4. Click the Add (+) icon which is at the left corner of the window, if the desired monitor has not already been added.  A list of monitor events appears:

Step 5. Choose Outgoing Mail Service (SMTP) from the drop-down list.

 

Step 6. Enter a value, in seconds, in the Latency Warning field. It is the time period after which a warning event will be generated if no reply has been received. 

Step 7. Enter a value, in seconds, in the Latency Critical field. It is the time period after which a critical event will be generated if no reply has been received.

Step 8. Enter the number of the port in the Port field through which you want to monitor the outgoing mail server response.

Step 9. Click OK to save the settings.
