Effective immediately, Cisco extends its already market-leading capabilities for its 200 series Smart, 300 Series Managed, and 500 series Stackable Managed switches with important firmware enhancements. These switches has proven to be leading in the SMB space by third party lab test reports performed by the Tolly Group, Miercom group, and other independent test companies such as CRN and E-Week. Firmware release 1.2.7.76 expands on this strong base to add key Security, Energy consumption, and time-based enhancements to these products.

This release (1.2.7.76) adds support for the following to the 300 Series Switches:

  • Denial-of-Service Attack Prevention capabilities such as DHCP Snooping, IP Source Guard, Dynamic ARP Inspection thereby increasing overall network availability
  • Secure file transfers to/from the switch with support for SCP (Secure Copy)
  • Secure mechanism to handle sensitive data (passwords/keys, etc) on the switch as well as securely populating it to other switches which prevents tampering by unauthorized users
  • Secure Auto-configuration delivering a secure mass-deployment capabilities and lowering operational costs
  • Time-based ACLs and Port Operation lowers operational costs
  • Additional Green energy savings capabilities with capability to disable LEDs, lowering the power consumption of the switches
  • Radius Accounting delivering enhanced visibility to help troubleshooting and billing

any roadmap for CISCO SF 300 to work as a DHCP server. It is really a useful function for SMB market.

I will wait for it. Now I just assign static IP because of no DHCP function of SF300.

Could you share best practise like DAI (dynamic arp inspection), 802.1x authen for 300 / 500 series like Smart-Tip ?

in the next firmware will we have captive portal on this switch ?
