Objective
Upgrade of the firmware version via the web configuration utility of the NSS300 Series can present problems such as failed upgrades or halt of the process for hours. As an alternative, Cisco offers the NSS Discovery Tool software, which upgrades the firmware of the NSS300 Series without problems. This article explains how to upgrade the firmware of the NSS300 Series using the NSS Discovery Tool Software.

Firmware Upgrade via NSS Discovery Tool Procedure
Note: Before you begin, make sure to do the following:
- Connect your computer with the device and make sure both are in the same subnet.
- Download the latest firmware from the Cisco web page.
- Install NSS Discovery Tool on your computer.
Step 1. Open the NSS Discovery Tool software.
Step 2. Choose from the table, the NSS device you want to upgrade.
Step 3. In the NSS Discovery Tool menu, choose Tools > Update Firmware.
Step 4. In the Administrator Name field, enter the name of the administrator account.
Step 5. In the Administrator Password field, enter the password of the administrator account.
Step 6. Click OK. The Update Firmware window opens.
Step 7. Click Browse and locate the image file with the new firmware.
Step 8. Click Start to begin the installation.
Step 9. After the installation is finished, a new window opens specifying the completion of the update. Click OK to finish the upgrade process.
