A reboot is needed when a system hangs up or to refresh all the applications and services on the switch. A periodic reboot is recommended for optimal performance. A reboot can be used for maintenance or for trouble shooting purpose also.
Factory default reset is used to remove configuration settings on the network device and to restore it to the original default settings.
This article explains how to reboot and factory reset through web configuration utility and through hardware reset button on the ESW2-550X stackable managed switch.

Reboot and Factory Reset through Web Configuration Utility
Step 1. Log in to the web configuration utility and choose Administration > Reboot. The Reboot page opens:
Step 2. Click the desired radio button in the Reboot field.
• Immediate — This option reboots or restores the device immediately.
• Date and Time — This option allows the administrator to choose on which day of a year and time the switch needs to reboot or restore.
• In, Days, Hours and Minutes — This options allows the administrator to choose in how many days, hours and minutes the switch needs to reboot or to restore from the Days, Hours and Minutes drop-down list.
Note: Factory Default deletes all the startup configuration and running configuration on the switch. If the switch needs to restore to factory default, proceed with Step 3, else skip to Step 4.
Step 3. Check the Restore to Factory Defaults checkbox to restore the switch to its default settings.
Step 4.(Optional) To delete the startup configuration on reboot, check the Clear Startup Configuration File.
Step 5. Click Reboot.
Reboot and Factory Reset through Hardware Reset Button
If the administrator username and/or password has been lost or the device must be reconfigured, a hardware reset can be useful.
Follow the steps given below to perform the hardware reset.
Step 1. Power on the switch, insert a pin or paper clip into the RESET opening.
Step 2. Press and release the RESET button to reboot the switch. To restore to factory default, press and hold the RESET button for more than 10 seconds.
