Set up an SQL Server on NSS300 Series Smart Storage Devices
Objective
This article outlines the procedure to enable MySQL on the NSS300 Series Smart Storage Devices. A MySQL server is a useful database service which can be used to host a website on the NSS or can be used to store files. It can be easily set and accessed through the web configuration utility. There is no need for the user to install any software to make use of MySQL as it can be accessed through the utility.

Enable the MySQL Server
Step 1. Log in to the web configuration utility and choose Application Servers > MySQL Server. The MySQL Server page opens:
Step 2. Check the Enable MySQL Server check box. This enables the MySQL server for NSS use only.
Step 3. (Optional) Check the Enable TCP/IP Networking check box to allow networked devices to use the MySQL database.
Step 4. Enter a port number into the Port Number field. This is the port number that the MySQL server listens on. The default port is 3306.
Step 5. Click Apply.
Reset the MySQL Root Password
Step 1. Log in to the web configuration utility and choose Application Servers > MySQL Server. The MySQL Server page opens:
Step 2. Click Reset Root Password to reset the MySQL root database password. It is reset to 'admin'. This opens a window that asks the user to verify the password reset.
Step 3. Click OK to verify the reset. The password is reset.
Clear MySQL Data
Step 1. Log in to the web configuration utility and choose Application Servers > MySQL Server. The MySQL Server page opens:
Step 2. Click Re-Initialize Database to clear the data on the MySQL Server database. This opens a window that ask the user to verify the data is to be cleared.
Step 3. Click OK to verify the data is to be cleared.
