Hello my name is chris and i have a slm2048 switch that my boss has forgot the password to and he need to me to get on to it's gui. I have tries to hold down the reset switch for at least 10 seconds and it will not reset to factory defaults. For some reason it retains it's settings. Any suggestios would be helpful.

Hi Chris,
the manual says 'You can also restore the factory defaults of your switch by pressing and holding the Reset button on the front of the switch for more than ten seconds."
Hmm I would try holding the reset button for a minute.
But as the datasheet says"This Cisco Small Business product offers a limited lifetime hardware warranty with return to factory replacement and a 1-year limited warranty for fans and power supplies. In addition, Cisco offers telephone technical support at no charge for the first 12 months following the date of purchase and software bug fixes for the warranty term".

You have the option of opening a call on the product via telephone;

or click to chat for products under warranty via;

I just got this switch and have tried this as well and it does not seem to work. Anyone figure out how to reset it without being able to login to the web gui?

Scott, if you can't log in, the only option would be to hold the reset button in for 30 seconds or so. If that doesn't work, the switch is hosed.
