Global Contract Coverage Question

Q1 Smartnet Coverage

If customer purchases SNTC on items in AU and shipped to NZ, will the items be covered by the SNTC T&C’s in NZ?

E.g. if a 3750X is purchased with 24x7x4 in AU and shipped to a site in Auckland (CBD), will that switch be covered by the same Smartnet T&C’s?

Q2 Global support contracts

IN relation to my customer’s environment, they have sites globally and it would be great if we could have one overarching support agreement for all their devices…..this will allow them (and us) to align all items under a single support contract with aligned support periods. Is this possible?

I was told long ago by Cisco that the contract is meant to be purchased in the country the goods are located.

However I have done it many times, for practicality reasons, and never had an issue - ever.  Just make sure you specify the site address where each bit of kit is located.

Specifically, if you purchase a SNTC contract in Australia for a device located in Auckland, New Zealand make sure you specify site address for that bit of kit is Auckland, New Zealand.  Otherwise you can imagine how stocking spares would be impossible for Cisco if they didn't know where the kit actually was.  Especially for 24x7x4 contracts.

pps. I think the main reason I was told to buy the contract in the region the device was located was due to remuneration of Cisco sales employees for the area they service ...
