9509 and ISL's

We have 2 9509's at our location. We have an ISL in port 1 and port 5. This is a 32 port board. We can't use ports 2,3,4,6,7,8 because of the ISL's. We are installing 2 new 9509's at another location. We have a 24 port board and a 18 port board. If we use ISL's how many ports will we lose?

what type of LineCard is in use.

if it is Gen 1 module.

there are gen 1 module configuration guidlines

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/switches/datacenter/mds9000/sw/4_1/configuration/guides/cli_4_1/intf.html#wp1242298

"You can configure only the first port in each  4-port group (for example, the first port in ports 1-4, the fifth port  in ports 5-8 and so on) as an E port. If the first port in the group is  configured as an E port, the other three ports in each group (ports 2-4,  6-8 and so on) are not usable and remain shutdown. "

The 24 port card is gern 3. The 18 port card is gen 2.
