Brocade 12k to MDS Merge Failure

Good morning all,

We are trying to connect a Brocade 12K (PID 1) to an MDS (Interop mode 3).

We can see the switches exchange ELP - RDI successfully, but we fail when we get to a zone merge.

We have tried disabling or deactivating zonesets on both switches (Only one active zoneset for this VSAN, either on the BRCD or the MDS) and still cannot get it to merge.

Do we need to start with the same active zoneset on both switches?

SAN OS 2.0 BRCD 4.4.0b

Thanks,

d.

No, you can have different zonesets in the two switches when the E port comes up and they should merge into a larger zoneset that is a combination of the individual zonesets. More than likely, one switch is not capable of understanding the member components of the other. In interop3, you can zone the BRCD by pwwn and interface and the MDS will understand it. In the MDS, you will not be able to zone by anything else but the pwwn.

I suggest you open a TAC case and attach a show tech and the traces and we will be able to determine exactly why the merge is failing.
