Hello all,

Could you please tell me why my Nexus 5672UP FC port only support 100m?

while I found on Cisco technical specifications:

So,

1) why does my Nexus 5672UP only show 100m (OM3 fiber)

2) as we all know, DS-SFP-FC32G-SW supports 16Gbps, if I want to use 16Gpbs, what kind of cable should I use?

Thanks.

Alex,

I fail to see the issue in the info you provided.  The transceiver details shows a 16Gb SFP is plugged into fc2/15 with details stating an OM3 cable provides up to 100m distance.

The Cisco specs you provide shows 14.025Gbs baud rate (which is generated by a 16Gbs SFP) is also 100m distance for OM3 cable, the same qualifications are listed in  show transceiver details.  For a given SFP type (16Gb v. 32Gb) OM4 will provide a bit maximum longer distance vs. OM3.

The question is how long is your cable run?  If it's under 70m (231ft) then OM3 should work just as well as OM4 for 32Gb SFP .  Or if using 16Gb SFP and if distance is under 100m then OM3 will also work.   From what I've read OM3 provides same level of performance as OM4 but at a reduced distance and costs less per cable.
