I am installing a pair of MDS9710 as part of an upgrade. But fails to complete the redundancy test for the management connections.
When I disconnect management port on active sup-module the other one did not pickup. At the same time only the active ports detected on the Nexus side. While the passive ports does not report any physical connection. Not sure if this the expected behavior. But for the test we removed the active connection. But the standby did not pickup.
is there a command to check the link status from MDS for the management port on standby sup-module?
Like "show cdp interface mgmt. 0" works for me for the active connection. we have the VLAN enabled on the switch side for the both the ports and set to auto negotiation.

Hi,
For high availability, connect the MGMT 10/100/1000 Ethernet port on the active Supervisor-1 module and on the standby Supervisor-1 module to the same network or VLAN. The active supervisor module owns the IP address used by both of these Ethernet connections. On a switchover, the newly activated supervisor module takes over this IP address. This process requires an Ethernet connection to the newly activated supervisor module.

We verified that the management port link status on the attached Ethernet switches does not show up for the standby management port until a switch over . Sounds like MDS is designed that way.
Also there is no way to check the standby management port status from with in MDS.
