Does Lip F8 received mean that the attached device must be configured as a loop device?

Hi Brendan,

Maybe,

When the interface is up, use "show interface ..."  and look for port mode = FL.  This means the attached device is a loop device.

If the interface is configured as switchport mode auto or FX, it tries to come up as loop first.

We sometimes see Lip F8 Rcvd as a symtom of congestion, or a bad cable/HBA/SFP.
