Use VIC card connect on Cisco UCS connect direct to Storage

Dear Forum, 

I have 1 UCS Server C240 with VIC card installation, i would like to connect VIC using iSCSI or FC connect to Storage buy Direct connect from server to Storage, but the vNIC in VIC card shown that it is not up, is there anyway that can connect form Server to Storage without FI Switch? please kindly advise. thank
