VSAN Trunking on Nexus 5500UP/UCS

Hello guys,

I was wondering if it was possible to create a vsan trunk between the cisco UCS 6200 FI and a Nexus 5500 UP.

I see how to configure vsan trunking on UCS and on Nexus 5500 but it is said in the Nexus config guide that :

Trunking configurations are only applicable to E ports

I cannot remember the port type negotiated between UCS and Nexus.

Does anyone ever try this before ?

Kind Regards,

Thomas

Hi Thomas,

If UCS is running in Switched mode then you will have E port .

If UCS is running End-Host (NPV) mode then you will use Trunking Fport feature to MDS/N5K NPIV core switch.

Please see this sample for additional information on Trunking and UCS-MDS trunking configuration:

https://supportforums.cisco.com/docs/DOC-14838

I hope this helps.

Regards,

Carlos

Carlos,

is f-port-trunking supported on N5K ?

Hi Carlos,

Thanks for your quick response.

I will try tommorrow in my lab.

As said by Dynamoxxx, Do you think it is possible on N5K ?

The only configuration I've found in N5K Configuration guide was for TE and not TF ...

Regards,

Thomas

thank you Carlos

Thanks for your quick response guys.

Sadly I cannot try in my lab so I will wait to go back to my client.

I'll let you know what happened.
