200 Series Smart Switch Accessing

Hello,

We recently installed a 200 Smart Switch.  I changed the IP address to 192.168.210.2 and everything was working fine.  Everything is still working fine except that I now can not access the switch using the IP address.  I can not ping the address and when I scan the network all the other IP are accounted.  Is there any other way to get in the switch other than factory reset?

Thank You,

Joe

Hi Joe,

The two questions I could pose are;

  • You said "I changed the IP address to 192.168.210.2 and everything was working fine. "  Could you get to the GUI of the switch after the change of IP address, and ;

  • did you save the configuration changes?

If you are not aware and  have not already done so, new firmware came out for the 200 series in August , may have to factory reset the unit and perform a firmware upgrade if you are still at firmware 1.0 rather than version 1.1.

sorry, for these questions

Hello,

Thank You for the reply.  Yes I could get to the GUI with the new password.  I decided about a week or two later to get back in the switch and was not able.

Hi Joe

But did you save the configuration.  Can you try the old IP address and old userid and password ?

I am guessing that maybe, being a new switch to you, you did not save the configuration and the switch was rebooted..maybe..just a guess.

regards Dave

Hello,

Apparently I did not save the configuration.  I come to find out that my server gave the switch a DHCP address.  Not sure why that happened.  I logged on with that IP address and then changed the IP address to what I wanted and then saved the configuration.

Thank You,

Joe
