after config restore: config works BUT cannot login any longer

I restored a config to a CBS250-8T-D switch from a backup file.
The restored config works,

HOWEVER, i canot login any longer: "invalid user or password"

When i reboot the switch it goes back to the config prior to the restore.
And the login is working again with the admin user.

The switch is running the latest firmware.
The restore config file was produced with the same firmware as the new switch.

What am I missing here ?

Is it local authentication, right?  You are not using tacacs?  I´m saying that cause if tacacs were being used, this new device had to be added to the tacacs server.

For local authentication, doesn´t apply what I just said.  Can you at least edit the file you imported on the new switch?  If so, you can delete the authentication part and add it after.

wow yeah....you can share it, if prefer.....but, yes definitly, username xxxx pass xxxxx must be let out.

Good news, deleting the "user" related line from the config file did the trick.
Log on with the user worked agin AND the new config was in place.

Considering you can access the switch using a console cable, you will be able to restore the password..

This video explain how to do that.

It might have  Mini Usb console port.

I got, something changed and messed up the password, otherwise you´d access it normally. I´d recommend try to revery or factory reset.

no console ports at all.

I have backuped up a running config file from another switch i logged onto as admin.
Resetted this one switch i am working on.
logged on using defaults.
restored config from this file.
Same behavior, the config works but logging in is denied.

Strange, Maybe I shall contact support.

OK, i have a plain txt file.
So i will delete the line saying  "username", correct ?

Yes, its all local authentication.
