Cisco 3750X switch

Hi,

I have a forgotten password issue on a c3750x switch.  I have tried the password recovery procedure pressing mode upon inserting the power cable but the switch is not recognising it.  I wonder if the mode button is faulty??  Also, I have noticed a reset pin on the back of the switch.  What does this acutal reset pinhole do if pressed?

I have tried numerous time to activate password recovery but have been unsuccessful.  The switch is the master in a stack of either 2 or 3 switches.

Ay advise would be appreaciated.

did you follow this procedure

http://www.firewall.cx/cisco-technical-knowledgebase/cisco-switches/1164-cisco-catalyst-3750-x-3560-x-password-recovery.html

and is it in a stack?

Hi, Yes I follwed the procedure.  The switch I am using is the stack master.  The other switches are off and disconnected.  I connect the power cable then immediately press and hold the mode button. The LED do not turn amber then solid green as stated in the article..'After the System LED turns amber and then solid green, release the Mode button.'  I release the mode button after approximately 30 secs as the sequence of lights described do not appear.  I have treid for hours trying different lengths of holding the mode button - it is as if pressing it makes no difference.

This is why I wanted to know what the purpose of the reset pin is for at the back of the switch.....
