Cisco SG200-26P -DHCP functionality???

Sorry for this lame post, as I am pretty sure I already know the anwser. I recently purchased one of these switches, and it works fine. My question is, can this switch also act as a "DHCP server"?

I was told that this switch has a dedicated WAN port, which it doesn't, and that I could plug my internet connection into it.

I can not see anywhere in the software, where it allows me to setup this switch as a DHCP server, so I am assuming that you can not.

Can anyone confirms this?

I was hoping to be able to simplify my network, and remove the old ISP modem, and just have the switch and the fiber router. The fiber router can not be setup to act as the DHCP.

Cheers.

Hi Demonic,

Unfortunately this switch does not have DHCP server option. This is only available in 300 and 500 series. Please also note that neither of those switches can do NAT thus you cannot make it directly connected to the ISP without addittional device doing NAT. If your fiber router can do it then perhaps it is a good idea to set up some software DHCP server on your network.

Regards,

Aleksandra
