Is there documentation for using the console interface of this switch/router? Are there firmware upgrades available for this model? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The SFE200 series switches are considered deprecated devices and neither technical support nor documentation are available. You can move to the next generation Cisco Business CBS250 or Cisco Small Business Sx200/Sx250 series switches. More information you can see in the following links:
